Troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) have recovered around 1,000 rustled cattle and neutralised two bandits in a gunfight along the Taraba–Plateau border. The update was shared by counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama via his X handle on Friday.
Makama stated that the operation was triggered by a tip-off received on April 25 about over 60 armed bandits riding 30 motorcycles who crossed from Plateau into Taraba to steal cattle from a Fulani settlement near Jebjeb. According to reports, troops from the 6 Brigade responded rapidly and joined forces with personnel already stationed in Jebjeb, who had engaged the retreating attackers.
The joint troops proceeded to Komodoro village in Taraba State, where they encountered the bandits who had retreated into the Daji Madam Forest in Plateau State. During the battle, two bandits were neutralised, and roughly 1,000 cattle were successfully retrieved. The military confirmed that the recovered livestock have been relocated to Jebjeb for return to their legitimate owners.
