Nigerian sprinter Favour Ofili made history at the 2025 Adidas Atlanta City Games by setting a new world record in the women’s 150m, clocking an unprecedented 15.85 seconds (2.0m/s) at Piedmont Park in Atlanta. The 22-year-old became the first woman to break the 16-second barrier in the event, surpassing the previous record of 16.23 seconds held by Bahamian Olympic gold medalist Shaunae Miller-Uibo since 2018.

Ofili’s record-breaking performance was the highlight of a standout day for Nigerian athletes at the high-profile street meet, which showcased global talent in an open-air, fan-engaging setting. Tobi Amusan, the 100m hurdles world record holder, ran 12.53 seconds to place second in her heat behind American Keni Harrison (12.44s), advancing to the final. Amusan’s recent form, including times of 12.74s and 12.66s in Xiamen and Keqiao respectively, signals her steady buildup toward the summer championships.

Sprinter Udodi Onwuzurike also posted a season-best of 10.20 seconds in the 100m, finishing second in his heat behind South Africa’s Akani Simbine, who won with 10.13 seconds. Onwuzurike’s time secured his place in the final and marked a strong return to form in his 2025 season. The Adidas Atlanta City Games is a dynamic street-style athletics event held outside traditional stadiums, designed to bring athletes and spectators together in a vibrant, interactive environment.
