NAFDAC has announced that the temporary lifting of the ban on sachet alcohol will end on December 31, 2025, after which full enforcement will begin. The agency clarified that the current Ministerial waiver is not permanent and urged the public to disregard claims suggesting otherwise.

Kenneth Azikwe, Director of the FCT Directorate, stated that the extension is to allow time for collaboration between manufacturers and regulators for an orderly implementation. He emphasized that alcohol sales to minors remain prohibited and acknowledged nationwide public sensitization efforts.

Azikwe also commended the Distillers and Beverages Association of Nigeria for supporting the campaign and confirmed that sachet alcohol products under 200ml will be completely phased out after the deadline.
