Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, expressed joy upon the return of his predecessor, Yahaya Bello, from the Kuje Correctional Facility on Friday, December 20. Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, is currently facing charges brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The charges against Bello include money laundering, corruption, and N80 billion fraud allegations, which were allegedly perpetrated during his tenure as governor. The case has been a subject of interest in the country.

On Friday, December 20, Bello was released from the Kuje Custodial Centre after meeting the bail conditions set by the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja. The development marks a significant milestone in the case.

Bello was granted bail on Thursday by Justice MaryAnne Anenih in the sum of N500 million. The bail conditions included providing three sureties, each owning property in select high-value areas of Abuja. The court also ordered Bello to surrender his passport and restricted his travel outside Nigeria without prior permission. The conditions are aimed at ensuring that Bello does not flee the country.
