Nigeria’s hurdling star Tobi Amusan delivered a standout performance at the Paris Diamond League on Friday, June 20, clocking her second-fastest time ever. Competing against some of the top hurdlers globally, Amusan crossed the finish line in 12.24s (0.9), significantly improving on her previous season’s best of 12.44s.

This mark stands as her second-fastest legal time, behind only her world record of 12.12s, and her third-fastest overall, following her 12.06s run during the 2022 world title. The performance signals a strong return to form and positions her as a serious contender for the world title in Tokyo later this summer.American hurdler Grace Stark, enjoying peak form, won the race with a lifetime best of 12.21s — the fourth-fastest time in history. Jamaica’s Ackera Nugent, the national record holder, placed third in 12.30s.

Stark’s time makes her a formidable challenger this season, joining a competitive field that includes Olympic champion Masai Russell, who holds the season’s leading time of 12.17s, and Tia Jones, who has clocked 12.19s. With multiple athletes posting world-class times, the women’s 100m hurdles is shaping up to be one of the most unpredictable and exciting events ahead of the World Championships.
