St. John Vianney Science College, Ukwulu, Anambra State, has claimed top honours at the first-ever UK-Nigeria Debate Competition, outperforming both Nigerian and British schools to emerge as the grand champion.

The virtual event, held on June 19, 2025, brought together high-performing secondary schools from both countries in a contest of ideas, argumentation, and public speaking skill.

Nigeria was represented by four schools: Britarch Schools, Abuja; Sure Start School, Abuja; St. Augustine’s College, Jos; and St. John Vianney Science College, Ukwulu. The United Kingdom fielded Central Foundation Girls’ School, Maghull High School, and Shireland High School.
