Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State, who was absent on the first day of his scheduled resumption, officially took his seat on Friday and announced plans to address the state in a broadcast at 6 p.m.

He arrived at the Port Harcourt International Airport at noon to a massive crowd, described as the largest ever seen at the facility, which made it impossible for him to address them on the spot. The governor had to push through the cheering supporters, many of whom came without mobilization.

At the Government House, Fubara was received by another large crowd. He was accompanied by his wife, top stakeholders, and security chiefs, including his Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie. On arrival, he inspected his residence before proceeding to his office.

Speaking to journalists, the governor expressed gratitude for the overwhelming reception, both at the airport and the Government House the previous day, describing it as a demonstration of love and solidarity. He said it reaffirmed the bond between the people and their government.

Fubara assured residents that his administration would continue to focus on policies and programmes that improve the lives of Rivers people. He also confirmed that his 6 p.m. broadcast would acknowledge the contributions of stakeholders who helped sustain peace and stability in the state.
