A Senior Secondary School Three student of the Government Science and Technical College, Potiskum, Yobe State, has died following an alleged bullying incident involving fellow students. According to Daily Trust, the student was reportedly attacked by some of his classmates on Sunday, February 8, 2026, under circumstances that are yet to be fully clarified.

A social media user, Yahaya Abubakar Sk, who shared a photograph of the deceased, alleged that the student died after being severely beaten by classmates who accused him of stealing a mobile phone. The deceased was said to have been buried later the same day in his hometown, Gadaka, in Fika Local Government Area of Yobe State. Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Yobe State Police Command, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, said the police had launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of death.

“Yes, we are aware of the incident,” Abdulkarim said.“An investigation is currently ongoing to ascertain what led to the death of the student.”A teacher at the school, who spoke anonymously, disclosed that students suspected to be involved in the incident had been handed over to the police for further investigation. “The school authorities have transferred the suspected students to the police, and investigations are ongoing,” the source said.
