Grammys winner Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has launched a groundbreaking platform and initiative aimed at supporting, connecting, and amplifying the voices of women in music across the African continent. Known as the Leading Vibe Initiative, the programme seeks to bridge the gap in female representation in the music industry by providing emerging artistes, songwriters, and producers with the tools, resources, and networking opportunities they need. It offers training, mentorship, and access to music production technology to help women in the African music industry find their voice, build their careers, and shape the future of the industry.Tl

Tems announced the initiative via social media on Wednesday, July 2, describing the platform as a space created to champion female creatives and drive meaningful change in the music world. “I’m so proud to launch @leadingvibeinit. A platform to support, connect & amplify women in music across Africa,” she wrote. The initiative targets female artistes, songwriters, producers, managers, and sound engineers aged 18–35 who are based in Nigeria. The first phase is scheduled to begin in Lagos before expanding to other parts of the continent.

The move reflects Tems’ ongoing commitment to challenging industry norms and creating inclusive spaces for African women in music. Known for her global success and authenticity, Tems continues to use her influence to drive positive change beyond the stage. Applications for the inaugural Lagos edition are currently open via leadingvibe.com, with the deadline set for Sunday, July 13. Source: https://guardian.ng/
