The Lagos State Government has announced a traffic diversion plan ahead of the 2025 Capital City Race, set to take place on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. In a statement shared by Bolanle Ogunlola, Director of Public Affairs, Lagos State, on X, the government said the 10km race, organised by the Lagos State Sports Commission in partnership with the Capital City Race Organisers, will start at Ikeja Shopping Mall.
Runners will proceed along Billings Way, Kudirat Abiola Way, Opebi Link Bridge, Adeniyi Jones, and Oba Akran before finishing at Archbishop Vining Memorial Church on Oba Akinjobi Way, Ikeja. The statement noted that several roads, junctions, and intersections along the route will be partially closed, with access reopened intermittently as the race progresses to ease movement along the corridor.
Police officers, officials from the Federal Road Safety Corps, and personnel from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority will be deployed along the route to manage traffic and ensure the safety of both participants and motorists. Motorists have been advised to plan their journeys in advance and remain patient, as the temporary road closures form part of the government’s traffic management strategy for the event.
