Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has lifted the 10-year promotion ban on staff of Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic (formerly Abia Polytechnic), Aba, which was imposed by the previous administration. In a statement issued on Tuesday in Umuahia, the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ukoha Njoku, confirmed the development, stating that Governor Otti also approved the release of all pending staff promotions and abolished the “National Promotions” practice within the institution.

Njoku highlighted that polytechnic staff expressed their gratitude to the governor for fulfilling his promise to clear the 33 months’ salary arrears owed by the previous administration. They also commended him for ensuring the timely payment of salaries and implementing infrastructure improvements to enhance the institution’s standards. This move aligns with Governor Otti’s broader agenda to enhance staff welfare and elevate the quality of education in the state.
