Stefano Gabbana, co-founder of Dolce & Gabbana, has stepped down as chairman of the company but will remain involved in its creative direction. The fashion house confirmed that the 63-year-old resigned from his corporate roles effective January 1, describing the move as part of a wider shift in its organisational and governance structure. The company said the decision reflects a natural evolution in how it is managed.
Gabbana established the brand in 1985 alongside Domenico Dolce, growing it into one of the most recognisable luxury labels in the world.Following his exit as chairman, the role has been assumed by Alfonso Dolce, the company’s chief executive and brother of Domenico Dolce. There are also indications that Gabbana may be considering options for his 40 percent stake in the company, as discussions continue with lenders over refinancing about €450 million in debt. The company, however, noted that talks are ongoing and did not give additional details.
Despite the leadership changes, Gabbana will continue to play a creative role in the brand, which remains a major force in global fashion and is known for its bold style and celebrity appeal, with figures like Madonna among its high-profile supporters.
