A TikTok creator identified as “Love” has reportedly been invited by the Nigeria Police Force over allegations of cyberstalking, fraud, and mischief linked to a viral video discussing the shelf life of a loaf of bread. The development was disclosed by social media influencer Lucky Udu, who shared a screenshot of the creator’s TikTok message and addressed the issue in a video posted on Instagram on Sunday.
In the video, Udu said the content creator contacted him after receiving the police invitation, noting that the matter has drawn significant public attention.He stated that she informed him about being summoned to the Nigeria Police Force headquarters over the allegations and said he advised her to stay in touch as many Nigerians are closely following the case.
A screenshot of the message shared online shows the TikToker, who uses the handle @lovedooshimaa, confirming that she had been asked to report to the Force Headquarters for questioning. In her message, she explained that she had been invited for an interview after being accused of cyberstalking, fraud, and related offences. The controversy began after she posted a viral TikTok video claiming that a loaf of bread she purchased remained fresh for about two months. The claim quickly sparked widespread debate online, particularly around food safety and product standards.
In response, bakery brand Bon Bread said the allegation had affected its reputation and that efforts were made to contact the creator for clarification. The company’s founder, Maria Abdulkadir, explained that she initially reached out to understand how the bread could have lasted for such a long period, as claimed in the video.
She added that the situation escalated after attempts to engage the creator were unsuccessful, while public reactions in the comment section further associated the claim with the brand. Abdulkadir said the company eventually pursued legal action to protect its reputation, maintaining that Bon Bread products are freshly made and typically do not last more than a few days without preservatives. She emphasised that while the company respects freedom of expression, it stands by the safety and quality of its products. As of the time of reporting, the Nigeria Police Force has not released an official statement confirming or clarising the reported invitation.
