Rodríguez announced the news on Instagram on Monday, August 11, sharing a photo of her hand atop Ronaldo’s, flaunting a large oval-shaped diamond ring, with the caption: “Yes I do. In this and in all my lives.”
The couple, who went public with their relationship in 2017, share five children: twins Eva Maria and Mateo (8), daughter Alana (7), daughter Bella (3), and Cristiano Jr. (15), whom Ronaldo had from a previous relationship. They also experienced tragedy in April 2022 when Bella’s newborn twin brother, Ángel, died shortly after birth.
Ronaldo and Rodríguez met in 2016 when she worked as a Gucci store assistant. Speaking in her Netflix series I Am Georgina, she recalled how he would visit her after work, sometimes arriving in luxury cars like a Bugatti, much to her coworkers’ amazement. Ronaldo described her as “very interesting” and “mature for her age,” and said their relationship quickly became their “own world.”
Over the years, the couple has faced both joyous moments — such as the births of their children — and heartbreaking ones, including Ángel’s death. Rodríguez has spoken about how Ronaldo encouraged her to find strength and joy again, saying: “Life is hard. Life goes on. I have reasons to move on and be strong.”
