The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has extended the grace period for enforcing the Tinted Glass Permit requirement for vehicles with tinted windows to October 2, 2025.The enforcement was initially slated for August 12, 2025, but Egbetokun said the extension followed a surge in applications through the official portal, reflecting increased public compliance.

According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the additional time will allow for thorough scrutiny of applications to ensure that only eligible and qualified individuals receive permits, in line with national security considerations. It will also enable continued improvements to both digital and physical verification processes to preserve the integrity of the permit system and prevent misuse.

The Nigeria Police Force reiterated that the only authorized platform for applications is [https://possap.gov.ng](https://possap.gov.ng) and urged citizens to ignore unofficial channels. Members of the public are also encouraged to report cases of extortion, hidden charges, or unauthorized processing to the police through the dedicated hotline 09169967000.

The statement emphasized that the force remains committed to balancing public convenience with strong security measures for the safety of all Nigerians.
