Nigerian music star Wizkid has been confirmed to perform at the CANEX 2025 Mega Concert in Algeria on Friday, September 5, according to statements released by the event organisers on September 2. The CANEX Mega Concert forms part of the broader CANEX 2025 exhibition, which combines showcases of African defence and security industries with cultural and artistic performances. The festival is set to feature top artists from Algeria, South Africa, Congo, Kenya, and several other African countries, positioning it as a major pan-African music event.
Organisers described Wizkid’s inclusion as a major highlight, citing his international appeal and cultural influence. “Renowned for his infectious Afrobeat rhythms, chart-topping hits, and magnetic stage presence, Wizkid has become one of Africa’s most celebrated music icons. At CANEX, his music will bring unmatched energy, signature Afrobeat grooves, and a celebration of African culture that promises to unite audiences and create unforgettable live moments,” the organisers said.Speculation has emerged online that Wizkid may be earning as much as ₦6.4 billion (\$4.2 million) for the performance, though neither CANEX nor the festival’s organisers have officially confirmed the figure. Posts on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) have amplified the claim, with fan pages and entertainment platforms widely sharing the reported fee.
Wizkid’s track record of high-profile shows underscores his global demand. In 2018, he reportedly earned about 50 million Indian Rupees (\$681,200 or around ₦245.9 million) for a performance at a royal wedding in Jodhpur, India. More recently, in 2025, he headlined Denmark’s AIA Sound Festival in August, reportedly earning \$3 million, while his sold-out Madison Square Garden show in New York in June generated an estimated \$1 million in ticket revenue.
His concerts at London’s O2 Arena and Atlanta’s State Farm Arena also reportedly brought in nearly \$900,000 each. These achievements highlight Wizkid’s continued ascent as one of Africa’s most influential and highest-paid performers, using his music to bridge cultures and expand the global reach of Afrobeat.
