Temi Otedola, actress and daughter of billionaire Femi Otedola, has sparked online buzz after changing her surname to “Ajibade” across her social media profiles. She adopted the last name of her husband, Nigerian singer Mr Eazi, whose real name is Oluwatosin Ajibade, following their wedding in Iceland on August 9, 2025.
Reports indicate that while her display names now reflect “Ajibade,” she has not altered her usernames or confirmed whether the change has been made on legal documents.
The Iceland ceremony was the couple’s third wedding celebration, following a Monaco event on May 9, which coincided with Mr Eazi’s late mother’s birthday, and a Yoruba traditional wedding at the Otedola family home in Dubai in July.
Her decision reignited debate over women taking their husband’s surname after marriage. A feminist commentator, Rachelle (@omo\_kosoko), had argued in August that women can keep their maiden names after marriage without facing challenges. Her post drew mixed reactions, with some agreeing and others questioning whether women would make the same choice when marrying into high-profile families.
Temi’s public adoption of “Ajibade” has now become a fresh talking point. Some users applauded her decision, while others mocked feminists who oppose name changes after marriage. One user, Mohh Sultan, commented “Feminists are in tears,” while another, Dice, quipped about the switch from “Otedola to Ajibade,” jokingly asking for a copy of Mr Eazi’s “book.”
