Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has taken her long-running dispute with popular clergyman Pastor Chris Okafor to court, filing a ₦1 billion lawsuit over what she described as a failed promise of marriage. The actress filed the suit at a high court, accusing the pastor of causing emotional distress, damaging her reputation, and breaching trust in connection with their alleged relationship. Doris has repeatedly claimed that she and Pastor Okafor were involved in a serious, long-term relationship and that she was led to believe marriage was forthcoming.

In earlier public statements, she alleged that the relationship lasted several years, during which she made personal sacrifices, offered support, and remained loyal, only to be left behind when the pastor allegedly decided to marry someone else. She has consistently rejected suggestions that her actions amount to blackmail, maintaining that she is simply seeking redress for the emotional and psychological harm she says she suffered.

The ₦1 billion lawsuit reportedly includes claims for damages, a public apology, and legal acknowledgment of the alleged wrongdoing. While full details of the court filings have yet to be made public, the move represents a major escalation in the widely publicised dispute that has played out both online and in the media. As of the time of filing this report, Pastor Chris Okafor has not issued an official response to the suit. The case is expected to draw significant public interest as it unfolds, given the prominence of both parties and the sensitive nature of the allegations. The court has yet to set a hearing date.
