The Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, has claimed that his children are being denied admission into tertiary institutions due to his outspoken position on the alleged killing of Christians in Plateau State and other parts of the country.

In a statement released on Friday, the cleric said his children, despite meeting the requirements for university admission, have repeatedly been turned down, especially by institutions located in northern Nigeria. He linked the repeated rejection to his public advocacy against what he described as ongoing attacks on Christians by bandits and terrorists.

Dachomo described the situation as unfair and discriminatory, noting that his children should not suffer consequences for opinions or actions that are solely his. He stressed that they have no involvement in his public engagements or activism. According to the cleric, his family name has become a challenge during the admission process, particularly at the screening stage. He claimed that once his surname is identified, the application is allegedly sidelined or dropped without explanation. He added that this experience has occurred on several occasions, with applications to different institutions being unsuccessful without clear reasons.

He further stated that the recurring pattern, mostly involving northern institutions, suggests deliberate targeting rather than coincidence. Dachomo said the situation has caused emotional distress for his family, especially his children. The cleric called on the government and relevant education authorities to uphold fairness and transparency in the admission process and to ensure that no applicant is denied access to education because of the beliefs or public stance of their parents.
