Four persons have been confirmed dead, while seven others sustained varying degrees of injuries after three trucks rammed into a crowd during a procession at the annual Eggon Festival and Carnival in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The incident occurred on Sunday, December 28, during the festival held at Eggon Community Secondary School, turning the usually colourful celebration into a scene of mourning. Confirming the accident, the Corps Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Yahaya Sabo, said the crash was caused by reckless driving, adding that investigations were ongoing.

Eyewitnesses described the incident as tragic and avoidable, accusing the truck drivers of failing to exercise caution in the crowded festival environment. The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Federal University of Lafia Teaching Hospital, while the injured victims are receiving medical treatment at the General Hospital in Nasarawa Eggon. Two of the deceased were identified as Asheazi Musa and Comrade Asele Amos Asele, popularly known as Oyibo Eggon.
