The wife and two daughters of Kogi-based journalist Muhammed Bashir were among ten family members kidnapped in Kaduna state on Thursday, August 8.

Bashir’s wife and daughters had arrived in Kaduna earlier that day for a holiday with her (the wife’s) family in a suburb of the state. Bashir, a correspondent with the Nigeria Telegraph, shared this news with his colleagues in a statement released today, August 9.

My dear colleagues, please I need your prayers. My two daughters and their mother, along with eight others, were kidnapped yesterday by unknown gunmen in Kaduna where they went for a holiday. Please pray for me,” he wrote on the Kogi Correspondents’ Chapel WhatsApp platform.

Bashir mentioned that he had contacted the police and the Department of State Services, and had been assured that measures were being taken to rescue the victims and apprehend the kidnappers.
