
Troops from Operation Lafiyan Jama’a successfully repelled a militia assault in Teegbe community, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, neutralizing one suspect and apprehending two others during a pursuit into neighboring Kaduna State.
According to intelligence sources who spoke to security analyst Zagazola Makama on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, the troops responded to a distress call around 9 a.m. following an attack on the community. Upon arrival, the soldiers engaged the assailants, who fled towards Baduru Sama in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
In the course of the pursuit, the troops reestablished contact with the fleeing militants, resulting in the neutralization of one militia member.Subsequent operations led to the arrest of two individuals, identified as 40-year-old Sani Adamu and 20-year-old Buhari Mohammed, who are suspected to be members of a local bandit group. Additionally, the troops recovered 42 stolen cows and N20,200 from the neutralized suspect.
Unfortunately, two residents of Teegbe were confirmed dead, and another was injured by gunfire, requiring evacuation to a nearby hospital for treatment. One soldier, Lance Corporal Tope Awoniyi, also sustained injuries during the operation and was transported to the 3 Division Medical Services and Hospital for further care.
The arrested suspects and the recovered items are currently in custody for ongoing investigations. Troop morale and operational readiness remain high as efforts continue in the region to prevent further attacks.
