Operatives from the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Alagbon, Lagos State, have arrested a well-known socialite in connection with an alleged N447 million land fraud. The suspect, Olaseni Johnson Olayinka, also known as Abu Abel, was apprehended by a team led by Chief Superintendent of Police Taiwo Oyewole at a residence in Victoria Island, where he was reportedly in hiding.
The arrest followed an order issued by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police at the FCID, Margaret Ochalla, after receiving a petition from Doyin Investment Group of Companies. According to the petition, the suspect fraudulently sold the company three plots of land located at Augustina Orji Street, within Ojomu Chieftaincy Family land, Oke-Arin Village, Mayegun, in Eti-Osa Local Government Area.
Olayinka allegedly claimed ownership of plots 1, 4, and 10, covering approximately 1,800.311 square metres, and convinced the company to pay N447 million for the property. A Deed of Assignment was reportedly executed between the two parties as part of the transaction.
Subsequently, the company discovered that the land was already encumbered and under third-party claims. When questioned, the suspect admitted knowledge of the issue and promised to refund the payment. He is said to have refunded N230 million in installments but failed to repay the outstanding balance.
