The Ogun State government has finalised plans to offer free training to youths in the repair of mobile phones and other digital devices. The initiative is being facilitated by Cybervilla, a technology firm focused on nurturing business ideas and promoting self-reliance among Ogun youths. The programme falls under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement designed to boost technical and vocational education.

According to a statement by the Information and Public Relations Officer at the Bureau of Information Technology, Olayinka Ezema, Governor Dapo Abiodun views vocational education as vital for youth empowerment in a growing digital economy. This belief informed the government’s collaboration with Cybervilla.

Cybervilla’s Chief Executive Officer, Ifeanyi Adirika, highlighted Ogun State as an emerging hub for innovation, which continues to attract companies like Cybervilla due to its favourable business environment. He said the programme would initially train 50 youths in the first phase, equipping them with essential tools and offering job placements within the company, the state government, and other partners.

One of the trainees, Timilehin Ajisebutu, speaking on behalf of participants, thanked the state government and Cybervilla for the opportunity. He pledged that the skills gained would be put to productive use, with the goal of becoming future employers and contributors to the local economy.
