Nigeria Plunged into Darkness as National Grid Suffers First Collapse of 2025 on January 11A widespread power outage has affected Nigerians after the national grid collapsed at 1:56 pm on Saturday, January 11, 2025. This incident marks the first grid collapse of the year, according to data from the Nigerian System Operator’s portal.

The latest failure is part of a recurring pattern of grid instability, which saw approximately 12 consecutive collapses in the previous year. The underlying cause of this recent collapse has not been officially disclosed.
