Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has completed a loan move to English Championship club Middlesbrough from Spanish outfit Sevilla until the end of the season. Iheanacho, 28, had joined Sevilla on a free transfer from Leicester City last summer.
The Nigerian international boasts an impressive resume, having played at the highest level in both club and international football. With over 300 career appearances under his belt, Iheanacho has scored 85 goals and netted 15 times in 57 games for Nigeria.
Iheanacho began his professional career at Manchester City, winning the League Cup as an 18-year-old. He then joined Leicester City in 2017, playing a crucial role in the Foxes’ promotion to the Premier League last season. During his stint with Leicester, Iheanacho featured in the Championship and contributed significantly to the team’s success.
Before joining Middlesbrough, Iheanacho had a brief spell with Sevilla, scoring three goals in 11 appearances. His experience in Spanish football will likely benefit Middlesbrough as they push for promotion in the Championship.
Iheanacho’s arrival at Middlesbrough is expected to bolster the team’s promotion bid. His wealth of experience, coupled with his impressive goal-scoring record, makes him an invaluable addition to the squad.
