Beyoncé’s Parkwood Entertainment and Chloe Bailey Slapped with $15 Million Copyright Lawsuit Over Alleged Unauthorized Use of Artist’s WorkBeyoncé and Chloe Bailey are facing a lawsuit over copyright infringement. The singer’s Parkwood Entertainment is being sued for allegedly using an artist’s work without permission in several songs by Chloe Bailey.

The lawsuit was filed by artist Melvin Moore, also known as 4Rest (Forest), in New York. Moore alleges that his work was used in several songs on Bailey’s album Trouble in Paradise, released in August.

Moore claims that he contributed original lyrics, melodies, and creative direction to several master recordings on Bailey’s album. However, he alleges that his work was used without his knowledge or consent.

The songs in question include Favorite, Might As Well, and Same Lingerie. Moore alleges that these songs were commercially released by the defendants without his permission. Moore claims that he recorded original demos for the song Same Lingerie, which was inspired by a relationship with a woman. He alleges that Bailey intentionally disregarded a DMCA Violation and Cease and Desist notice he had issued her.

Moore is requesting punitive damages of $5 million per song. He is also demanding a jury trial and seeking an award for statutory damages of up to $150,000 per infringement. Additionally, Moore is seeking statutory damages of up to $25,000 per DMCA violation, and compensatory and punitive damages for willful copyright infringement, fraudulent misrepresentation, and civil conspiracy.

The lawsuit also names Columbia Records, Music Entertainment, Sony Music Entertainment, ABC Corporation 1-10, and John and Jane Does 1-10 as defendants. Moore alleges that these defendants misappropriated his contributions to the songs.

Moore claims that the defendants falsely registered the songs under their names and exploited them for commercial gain without authorization. He alleges that this was done across multiple revenue-generating platforms. A source close to the matter told DailyMail that Beyoncé is furious about the lawsuit. “Beyoncé is incensed that it has gone this far,” the source said.

The source also claimed that communication between Bailey and Parkwood had been breaking down in the weeks leading up to the filing. They alleged that Parkwood was “petrified of being drawn into a lawsuit about theft of intellectual property.”
