In a bid to strengthen military collaboration between Nigeria and Pakistan, General Shahir Shamsad Mirza, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee of Pakistan, paid an official visit to Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday.

During the visit, General Mirza held discussions with Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, who welcomed him and commended the strategic nature of the engagement. General Musa reaffirmed Nigeria’s dedication to enhancing defence ties with Pakistan, particularly in the areas of capacity building and joint military training.

He highlighted existing cooperation, noting that over 2,000 Nigerian military officers have received training in Pakistan. He also stressed the importance of continued collaboration in Special Forces development, border security, veteran affairs, and intelligence sharing.

In his remarks, General Mirza commended the Nigerian Armed Forces for their ongoing efforts in tackling terrorism and maintaining national security. He underscored the deep-rooted historical and cultural connections between the two nations and described Nigeria as a strategic partner and a leading force on the African continent.
