390 former Boko Haram insurgents have completed a Federal Government-run De-radicalisation, Rehabilitation, and Reintegration (DRR) programme in Gombe State and are now prepared to rejoin civil society. The graduation ceremony took place at the DRR camp in Malam Sidi, Kwami Local Government Area, with Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, presiding. He noted that the programme equips participants with skills and counselling to discourage re-engagement in terrorism or criminal activity.

The Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mrs. Zubaida Umarβ€”represented by Director of Search and Rescue, Air Commodore Abang Oyongβ€”reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to national security through both military and non-military measures.

She praised the Nigerian Armed Forces for their balanced approach in tackling terrorism and acknowledged President Bola Tinubu’s leadership in expanding the DRR initiative to all six geopolitical zones, including the recent establishment of a reintegration centre in Zamfara State.

To support the reintegration process, each graduate received a starter pack that included N50,000 in cash, along with food items such as 400 bags each of 25kg rice and maize, 400 bottles of vegetable oil, seasoning, tomato paste, iodized salt, as well as bath towels and plastic plates. Umar explained that these resources are intended to provide immediate stability for the rehabilitated individuals and ease their transition back into their communities.
