Six Dead, Five Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash in KogiA tragic road accident in Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State has claimed the lives of six people, leaving five others injured, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

Acting Sector Commander, Mr. Samuel Ogundayo, confirmed the incident on Tuesday, describing it as “very unfortunate.” The crash, which occurred around 8:30 p.m. on Monday in the Okenkwe community, involved seven vehicles.

The accident reportedly began when a truck lost its brakes while attempting to ascend Okengwe hill, rolling backward and crashing into two tricycles, three cars, and another truck.

Ogundayo said FRSC rescue teams arrived promptly at the scene, transporting the injured victims to the Referral Hospital in Okene, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at the Onene General Hospital mortuary.

Clearing the traffic congestion caused by the incident required the joint efforts of FRSC personnel and other security agencies. The sector commander urged motorists to maintain safe distances from trucks, especially in hilly areas, and to consistently observe traffic rules to reduce road accidents and fatalities.
