A yet-to-be-identified woman has reportedly died by suicide after jumping off the Third Mainland Bridge into the waters near the University of Lagos (UNILAG) waterfront on Thursday night, March 13. The incident led to her death despite swift rescue efforts by marine police officers stationed in the area who responded immediately to the emergency.

Confirming the incident to Sahara Reporters, the spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that medical personnel from the University of Lagos pronounced her dead upon arrival. Her body has since been transported to the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) Mortuary in Yaba for preservation.
