The incident led to her death despite swift rescue efforts by marine police officers stationed in the area who responded immediately to the emergency.

Confirming the incident to Sahara Reporters, the spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that medical personnel from the University of Lagos pronounced her dead upon arrival.
