Air Peace has successfully evacuated 78 Nigerian women from Côte d’Ivoire at no cost, following a pledge by the airline’s Chairman, Allen Onyema, to assist victims of human trafficking.

The evacuation was carried out using Air Peace’s Boeing 737 aircraft, which departed Lagos and landed back with the rescued women at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport. The women had fallen victim to trafficking and were stranded in Abidjan under harsh conditions.

The operation was made possible through joint efforts involving Air Peace, the Nigerian Embassy in Abidjan, and the Nigerian community in Côte d’Ivoire, who ensured the women were properly documented and cleared for travel.

Speaking after the flight, Onyema emphasised the airline’s commitment to humanitarian service, stating that the suffering of Nigerians abroad must never be ignored. He reiterated that Air Peace would continue to use its resources to support distressed citizens globally.

Chief Michael Emeka Onwuchelu, president of the Nigerian Community in Côte d’Ivoire, praised the gesture, describing it as more than corporate responsibility, and calling it a timely act of compassion.

Paul Obi, representing the Nigerian Embassy, also acknowledged the airline’s pivotal role in the rescue, noting that the intervention overcame serious diplomatic and logistical challenges to restore dignity to the victims.
