The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) is set to arraign the Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Airways, Temi Birdzell, along with the airline and several senior staff members, over alleged violations of the FCCPC Act 2018.

The arraignment is scheduled for October 7, 2025, before Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja.Others listed for arraignment include Stella Ihediwa, the airline’s Account Manager; Kennedy Chirchir, Country Manager; and Eva Ojeje, Sales Manager.

Although the case was originally listed for hearing on Tuesday, it could not proceed due to the absence of the defendants, resulting from incomplete service of court documents, including the hearing notice.

FCCPC counsel Chizenum Nsitem informed the court that while the company itself had been served, four of the individual defendants had not yet received the necessary documents. He requested an adjournment to allow time to complete the service process. Justice Omotosho subsequently adjourned the matter to October 7 for the defendants to enter their pleas. According to the charge sheet, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/200/2025 and filed on May 27, the FCCPC brought two main counts against the defendants.

The first count accuses the defendants of failing to appear before the Commission as required by a lawful summons dated September 6, 2024, in violation of Section 33(3) of the FCCPC Act 2018.

The second count alleges that on September 18, 2024, the defendants deliberately failed to produce documents as demanded by the Commission, constituting an offence under Section 111 of the same Act. A third count claims the defendants violated consumer rights on the same day, contrary to Section 124(1) and punishable under Section 155 of the Act.
