Nollywood actor and scriptwriter Ezeh Val says he has stopped writing movies centered on money ritualism, a theme he once became known for.Val, who wrote popular films such as The Seven Heads (2019), The Billionaires (Money Stops Nonsense) (2018), The Ring (2018), and Married in Casket (2024), admitted that his work contributed to stereotypes portraying Igbo men as ritualists.

In an X post on Saturday, he revealed that despite being offered huge sums by producers to continue with ritualism-themed scripts, he has consistently turned them down. “I stopped writing movie scripts that portray Igbo men as ritualists when I noticed that some of my movies contribute heavily to the damage done to our race as Igbos. So many producers tried to plead with me … but I insist that I will never do it again, even with the huge amount of money offered,” he wrote.

Val added that while he enjoyed the creativity of fictional storytelling, he realized the harm it caused to public perception of Igbos. He said he is now committed to “making things right” and changing the narrative, stressing: “It’s time to start doing things right. Igbo Amaka.”Would you like me to reframe this one with a sharper headline angle, maybe something like “Ezeh Val Quits Ritual Movies to Fight Igbo Stereotypes”?
