Afrobeats star Davido has become a voting member of the Recording Academy, giving him a role in the selection process for the GRAMMY Awards ahead of the 2026 edition.

As a voting member, he will join other music professionals in shaping decisions for the industry’s most prestigious awards. Davido said the step allows him to make his voice heard in the process, describing it as a gamechanger and an honour.

The Nigerian artist, who earned three GRAMMY nominations in 2024, is among a growing number of African musicians gaining recognition within the Academy. His membership reflects the Academy’s ongoing efforts to expand its base and embrace greater global diversity in music representation.
