Behind the finished set lies a strategic roadmap that starts with creative concept design, followed by extensive procurement, logistics, and site preparation before physical construction begins. While planning takes months, the physical transformation from a bare structure into a studio-ready set takes just eight weeks. The resulting custom-built house in Lagos is equipped with 52 robotic pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras, seven handheld cameras, 59 microphones, 36 antenna blades, and 19 speakers, all engineered to capture 24/7 audio and video from every angle.
Adjacent to the main house sits a live television studio housing seven handheld cameras, creating a versatile environment capable of hosting over 20 housemates while effortlessly adapting to every twist of the production.Beyond the daily drama, the physical space undergoes significant year-over-year structural changes. The current layout differs fundamentally from previous editions. A major architectural shift occurred in 2024 when designers moved the central staircase to the middle of the living room and relocated the bedrooms upstairs, permanently altering how housemates navigate and interact within the space.
These layout changes go far beyond visual appeal; every architectural choice optimizes camera sightlines, audio coverage, and natural gathering points—functioning much like a director blocking a scene, except the subjects remain on set around the clock.Crucially, the complex facility is built entirely through local talent. From civil engineering and electrical wiring to interior design and fine finishings, the house is executed strictly by Nigerian experts. This commitment directly and indirectly supports over 1,000 local jobs each season across carpentry, electrical engineering, civil construction, and specialized craft trades.
The economic impact continues long after construction ends. Once the physical structure is handed over, hundreds of additional operational personnel take over—including camera operators, control room technicians, task facilitators, security, housekeepers, caterers, and technical engineers maintaining round-the-clock operations.
