The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), under the joint task force of Operation HADIN KAI, has recorded another operational success following a coordinated air interdiction mission at Abbaga Jiri in the Timbuktu Triangle area of Borno State. In a statement issued on Saturday, the Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the operation was carried out based on intelligence from multiple sources that confirmed the presence of terrorists, their structures, and hidden logistics facilities in the area, according to Channels TV.
He explained that NAF air assets were deployed for surveillance and precision strikes on identified targets after the intelligence was verified. The operation, he said, was aimed at weakening terrorist capabilities, denying them safe havens, and supporting ground forces, while strictly observing the rules of engagement and protecting civilians.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, described the mission as a demonstration of the Air Force’s commitment to delivering accurate and decisive air support for ground troops. He said the NAF would continue to deny terrorists freedom of movement, shelter, and access to supplies wherever they attempt to operate.
He added that the identified terrorist structures were successfully attacked and destroyed, while a follow-up strike neutralised armed fighters who were seen moving toward the location. According to him, the subsequent advance by ground troops confirmed the effectiveness of the air strikes and the success of the joint operation.
Reaffirming the Air Force’s approach, Aneke said all operations are carefully planned and driven by intelligence to ensure maximum impact on hostile elements while safeguarding innocent civilians. He stressed that pressure on terrorist networks would be sustained until they are fully dismantled.
Meanwhile, in December 2025, the Nigerian Air Force also carried out two precision air strikes on bandit camps in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State under Operation Fansan Yamma, Sector 2. The strikes targeted Turba Hill and a camp linked to a bandit leader, Kachalla Dogo Sule.Air Commodore Ejodame said those operations were also based on credible, multi-source intelligence on bandit activities in the area.
