The Zamfara State Government has approved increased monthly allowances for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members posted to the state, with medical corps members set to receive ₦150,000, while other health professionals will earn ₦50,000. Governor Dauda Lawal made the announcement at the swearing-in ceremony of 2026 Batch A Stream One corps members held at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Zamfara State.

While formally declaring the orientation programme open, the governor encouraged corps members to carry out their duties with integrity, discipline and a clear sense of purpose, stressing the importance of national service in the country’s development. Speaking through the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Tasi’u Musa Shinkafi, he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of corps members and the general well-being of Zamfara residents. The state government also disclosed that corps members posted to schools, ministries, departments and agencies will receive an additional monthly allowance of ₦20,000.Governor Lawal assured the corps members of a supportive working environment, noting that rundown schools, hospitals and other public facilities have been renovated and properly equipped to improve service delivery. He described the presence of the corps members in Zamfara as meaningful, saying they embody hope, resilience and the richness of Nigeria’s diversity. The governor further emphasised the role of the NYSC scheme in fostering national unity, mutual understanding and a common national identity, especially in the face of the country’s social, economic and security challenges. On security matters, Governor Lawal acknowledged existing challenges in some parts of the state but said ongoing collaboration with security agencies, traditional institutions, community leaders and vigilante groups has led to noticeable improvements. He advised corps members to be law-abiding, security-conscious and respectful of the customs and traditions of their host communities, describing the people of Zamfara as welcoming, resilient and strongly committed to communal values.
