Nigerian-born South African beauty queen, Chidimma Adetshina, faces revocation of her South African ID and travel documents due to eligibility disputes.

Chidimma’s participation in the Miss South Africa pageant sparked controversy surrounding her identification, leading to her withdrawal. She subsequently competed in and won the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant.

South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs announced on October 29, 2024, that Chidimma’s identification documents would be withdrawn due to unresolved issues.

Chidimma’s mother’s documents would also be terminated for failing to meet the deadline to justify keeping them.

According to Tommy Makhode, a senior Home Affairs official, Chidimma’s case was referred to the Hawks, a specialized police unit, which concluded that it involved fraudulent activities. Investigations revealed discrepancies in Chidimma’s documentation, prompting the revocation of her South African identification.
