Troops from the 65 Battalion of the Nigerian Army have dismantled a suspected illegal bunkering site in the Orile area of Lagos State, arresting six suspects during an intelligence-driven operation. The raid was spearheaded by the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel S. Adeojo, following credible intelligence regarding illegal oil bunkering operations in the area.

According to a statement released on Wednesday via X by Lieutenant Musa Yahaya, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the 81 Division, the operation resulted in the arrest of six suspects and the confiscation of four trucks, a pumping machine, alongside various pipes and drums used to facilitate the illegal trade.

The arrested individuals and seized equipment have since been transferred to the Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for further investigation and prosecution. Commending the soldiers for the successful raid, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, Major General Adebayo Babalola, urged troops to maintain a relentless stance against economic sabotage and criminal networks within their area of responsibility. The Nigerian Army reaffirmed that the raid is part of its broader campaign to eradicate illegal bunkering, safeguard critical national infrastructure, and bolster regional security.
