Veteran singer Konga has criticised the current generation of artists, accusing them of failing to support industry legends.Speaking on a recent episode of the Hits Don’t Lie podcast, he argued that Davido should have redirected his N200 million birthday donation toward struggling music veterans rather than giving it to orphanages.

He said such a move could have helped revive the careers of older acts like Baba Fryo and Daddy Showkey. Konga added that Nigerian artists need to show humility and support those who paved the way, referencing pioneers like Fela Kuti, King Sunny Ade, and Majek Fashek.

He also expressed concern over what he described as a lack of recognition for these legends, claiming some have been pushed into doing menial jobs abroad due to insufficient support.Konga said the current crop of artists should be more appreciative, stressing that wealth is temporary and should be used to uplift others in the industry. He argued that if the funds had been shared among veteran artists, it could have sparked a wave of comeback hits and renewed interest in their music.

He further lamented that many pioneers are fading away because of neglect, pointing to artists like Lord of Ajasa as an example. He also criticised statements ranking newer stars above earlier generations, insisting that artists such as Olamide and Wizkid are building on foundations laid by past legends. According to him, earlier icons had already taken Nigerian music global through international tours long before the current wave, even if their achievements were not widely documented.
