Here tooThe Kano State Hisbah board says its personnel have intercepted a vehicle in Kano conveying assorted alcoholic drinks allegedly sent from Lagos. The Board’s Deputy Commander General, Mujahideen Aminuddeen, made the disclosure in a statement on Tuesday. Aminuddeen said the operation was carried out on Monday following credible intelligence reports that the consignment was coming from Lagos.

“Operatives of the Fagge patrol command acted swiftly on the information by successfully stopping the vehicle and seizing the alcoholic beverages,” he said.Aminudeen revealed that investigations showed the consignment was sent by a woman from Lagos to Kano, with about 13 packs of alcoholic drinks recovered during the operation. He added that the driver of the vehicle has been arrested to assist ongoing investigations, while efforts are underway to apprehend the woman who allegedly sent the alcohol.

The deputy commander-general urged members of the public to continue reporting activities that violate accepted social norms or the provisions of Islamic law, stressing that public cooperation remains critical to the effective operations of the Hisbah personnel. On December 11, the Kano State Road Traffic Agency intercepted and handed over three truckloads of assorted beer worth millions of naira to the Board. The agency also impounded the intercepted vehicles, containing four hundred and ten cartons of the commodity.
