The Federal Government has designated Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as public holidays in observance of Eid-el-Fitr. Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the announcement on behalf of the government in a statement released on Wednesday by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani.
Congratulating Muslims on the successful completion of Ramadan, Tunji-Ojo highlighted the spiritual significance of the holy month, emphasizing its role in fostering self-discipline, compassion, and renewal. He urged Muslims to continue demonstrating love, generosity, and peace while calling for national unity and religious harmony. The minister also encouraged Nigerians to use the occasion to pray for the nation’s peace, stability, and prosperity.
“As we celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, let us embrace the lessons of Ramadan, extend love and forgiveness, and work collectively toward a more united and prosperous Nigeria,” he stated. Additionally, he urged citizens to celebrate responsibly and extend kindness to the less privileged, in keeping with the values of Ramadan and Eid.
On behalf of the Federal Government, Tunji-Ojo wished all Muslims a joyous Eid Mubarak, expressing hopes that the season’s blessings bring happiness and fulfillment to all.
