Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has appointed Chinese national Li Zhensheng as Economic Adviser to the state government. The announcement was made during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Bauchi State Government and the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre in Bauchi. Mohammed said the appointment is part of plans to position Bauchi as a hub for international cooperation, with the partnership set to attract investment, drive infrastructure development, and advance bilateral projects in agriculture, education, healthcare, manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, and trade.
He noted that a representative office would be established in China to oversee projects and ensure timely delivery. The initiative, according to the governor, aligns with the diplomatic framework between Presidents Xi Jinping and Bola Tinubu, and is expected to boost foreign direct investment, create jobs, upgrade skills, modernise critical sectors, and raise Bauchi’s global standing. Zhensheng, who is Chairman of the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre, pledged to mobilise resources to support Bauchi’s economic transformation.
