Nollywood actress Biodun Okeowo, popularly known as Omoborty, has broken her silence on why she departed from the Yoruba movie industry. In a candid post on her social media page, the actress revealed that she was forced out by marketers who blacklisted her for refusing to compromise her values.

According to Omoborty, the marketers went to great lengths to sabotage her career, instructing producers to exclude her from movie projects and even removing her image from a film poster where she played the lead role. The actress expressed her frustration, questioning how much more she should reveal about the marketers’ malicious actions.

Omoborty recounted how the experience left her with a deep-seated hatred for the job she once loved, leading her to decline movie roles. Her story echoes the struggles faced by many colleagues who were also blacklisted for refusing to compromise their principles.

In a previous interview, Omoborty shed light on the darker side of the movie industry, revealing how some of her colleagues suffered greatly due to their refusal to give in to influential figures. Some even faced the humiliation of having their children sent home from school due to unpaid school fees.

Thankfully, Omoborty and her colleagues have been able to overcome these challenges. In November 2023, the actress embarked on a new journey, vowing to leave behind her revealing outfits and embracing a fresh start.

As part of her new path, Omoborty urged brands to support her in making her vision a reality. Her courage in speaking out against the injustices she faced has inspired many, and her determination to start anew is a testament to her resilience.

Omoborty’s story serves as a reminder of the harsh realities faced by many in the entertainment industry. Her bravery in sharing her experiences has sparked a necessary conversation about the need for change and greater support for artists.

The actress’s journey is a powerful reminder that even in the darkest moments, there is always hope for a brighter future. As Omoborty continues on her new path, her fans and supporters are eagerly awaiting her next move.
