The Emir, however, emphasized that he does not consider the Eid-el-Fitr Durbar a “matter of life and death,” stressing that the safety and well-being of Kano’s citizens remain his top priority. He, therefore, urged residents and the general public to maintain peace, uphold the law, and cooperate with security agencies to ensure order during and after the Sallah festivities.
Meanwhile, Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Ibrahim Faruq, commended the Emir for his spirit of compassion and leadership. He recalled experiencing the Emir’s kindness during his time as a lecturer at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) in the early 1980s, where he mentored and supported students.
The SSG expressed gratitude to the Emir for prioritizing the lives of Kano’s citizens by willingly canceling the Eid-el-Fitr Durbar. Similarly, the Chief Imam of the National Mosque, Professor Shehu Galadanci, praised Emir Sanusi for his wisdom and leadership in the Emirate.
Galadanci also echoed the Emir’s stance, emphasizing that the safety of Kano’s people and their properties outweighs the importance of the Sallah Durbar. He applauded Sanusi for his commitment to fostering peace and unity in Kano.
