Factional Labour Party leader Abayomi Arabambi has disclosed that the party is set to expel its 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, Abia State Governor Alex Otti, and other currently suspended members.

Speaking during an interview on Television Continental (TVC), Arabambi, the factional Publicity Secretary of the LP, stated that the planned expulsions will be finalized at the party’s forthcoming national convention.

He accused Obi and Otti of contributing to internal conflicts within the party, describing them as individuals driven by self-interest. He emphasized that the party would not tolerate actions that threaten its unity and asserted that Julius Abure remains the National Chairman, as the Supreme Court did not remove him.

Arabambi maintained that peace in the party could only be restored through a national convention, which he said would address internal disputes by formalizing the expulsion of Obi, Otti, and others under suspension.

Earlier, the Labour Party announced the indefinite suspension of Governor Otti, Senator Ireti Kingibe, and four others over allegations of anti-party conduct. In a statement issued by National Secretary Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, the suspended individuals—Senator Darlington Nwokocha, Hon. Victor Afam Ogene, Hon. Amobi Ogah, and Hon. Seyi Sowunmi—were barred from acting on behalf of the party.
