
Quadri Aruna advances to the fourth round of the 2025 ITTF World Championships with a 4-2 win over Germany’s Benedikt Duda, becoming the last African player standing in the Men’s Singles. Despite past losses to Duda, Aruna delivered a commanding performance marked by resilience and strategic play.
He opened with a tight 11-9 win, stumbled in the second, and recovered in the third. After a disputed call and a heavy fourth-set loss, Aruna mounted a dramatic comeback from 3-9 down in the fifth set to win 12-10. He sealed the match with an 11-9 finish in the sixth set, thrilling spectators at Lusail Hall in Doha.
The 58th ITTF World Championships, running from May 17 to 25 in Qatar, features 640 players from 127 countries competing across five event categories.
