The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has donated food items to victims of the recent flood disaster in Mokwa, Niger State. The donation was presented at the Office of the Deputy Governor by CAN Vice President, Rev. Dr Stephen Baba Panya, who represented the CAN President, His Eminence Archbishop Daniel Okoh. Expressing sorrow over the scale of destruction, Panya said the gesture was a show of love and solidarity with the affected communities. He described the tragedy as a reminder of the shared responsibility of all groups and levels of government to support those in distress.

“We are here to express our heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Niger State, particularly the Mokwa region, following the devastating flood that has led to the loss of lives, destruction of homes, and the displacement of many families,” he said.

He added that CAN’s intervention was aimed at complementing the efforts of the federal and state governments, emergency agencies, and other humanitarian partners. “As a body, we will continue to lift Niger State in our prayers, just as the Book of Psalm 146:1 says, ‘God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble,’” he said.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Deputy Governor, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Barrister Mairo Mohammed Mann, appreciated CAN’s support and assured that the items would be appropriately distributed.

Marcus Joshua, other CAN officials, the Director General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), Abdullahi Baba Arah, and representatives from the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and emergency response agencies.
