Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, known as Tems, captivated the audience on Sunday evening with a live performance of her hit song “Love Me Jeje”. The performance took place during halftime at the FIFA Club World Cup final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, United States.

Dressed in a shimmering outfit that merged African aesthetics with global style, the Grammy-winning artist drew enthusiastic reactions from fans in the stadium. Her smooth and soulful delivery energized the crowd, coming just after Chelsea took a 3-0 lead over Paris Saint-Germain by halftime. The rendition of “Love Me Jeje”, a modern remake of Seyi Sodimu’s 1997 classic, received strong applause and sparked praise across social media.

Since its 2024 release, Tems’ version has received significant airplay on streaming services, radio, and at public events, cementing its place as one of her standout singles of the year. Social media users praised her vocal talent, stage presence, and the cultural representation she brought to the international football event. Many hailed the performance as a proud moment for Africa and applauded FIFA for spotlighting an African artist on such a global stage. Tems joins a growing list of African musicians gaining recognition on international platforms.
